Dear artists,
the bbk berlin board cordially invites you to the general meeting with board elections of the bbk berlin on July 3, 2024.
In our last newsletter, we reported on the ongoing budget negotiations. The result was not yet associated with major cuts, at least for our concerns, but in the coming year we will face new challenges and hope to largely prevent cuts and the steady loss of work space. To do this, we need a lot of commitment, support and good arguments - also with your help - the members of the bbk berlin.
The Permanent Berlin Cultural Conference (Ständige Berliner Kulturkonferenz) was founded to better protect and promote the interests of many artists in this city. This alliance of associations and interest groups aims to contribute to infrastructure and urban development as well as the implementation of fair working conditions through clear fee guidelines.
The global political situation is tense and everyone is directly or indirectly affected by it. The wars, whether in Ukraine or Gaza, are escalating and do not lead to a consensus of opinion in every respect - not even in our midst. However, we are united by the goal of not allowing autocratic, extremist or discriminatory systems and fighting for a democratic society.
Some of this can be found in the Board report, which summarizes the work we have done in recent months. We call on you: Please come to the general meeting, because there we will decide with you on the forward-looking proposals submitted by the Board, discuss current issues and elect the new Board.
